Privacy Policy
FastClaim Solutions Limited (“FastClaim”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with Nigeria’s data protection laws. FastClaim is a Nigerian insurtech startup that offers an AI-powered mobile platform to simplify motor insurance claims. We collect and process personal information to operate our app and services in Nigeria. As stated on our website, “Your privacy is our priority.” In June 2023 Nigeria enacted the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA), which became law on June 12, 2023. The NDPA requires us to explain the categories of data we collect, the purposes of processing, retention periods, third-party disclosures, and user rights. Accordingly, this Policy describes what information we collect, how we use and share it, and how we protect it – all in accordance with the NDPA and related Nigerian regulations.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when using our app or website, as well as certain technical data. This includes: Personal and Contact Information: Your full name, email address, phone number, and any user account identifiers (e.g. user ID, policy number) you provide when registering or submitting a claim. Claim Images and Documents: Photos or videos of your vehicle’s damage and any other files you upload as part of a claim. For example, FastClaim’s app allows you to submit claims by capturing photos or videos of vehicle damage directly from your smartphone, and its AI instantly analyzes the images to detect and assess damage. We process these images and documents to evaluate and forward your claim to insurers. Location Data: If you grant permission, we collect your precise GPS location during app use. This helps verify where an accident occurred, enable location-based features (such as finding nearby towing services), and improve accuracy in claims processing. Device and Usage Data: We automatically collect technical details about your device and how you use the app, including your unique device identifier (Device ID), device model and operating system, mobile network, IP address, and app usage logs. This information helps us secure your account, diagnose issues, and improve the app. Other Information: If you use other FastClaim services (e.g. requesting a tow truck, license renewals) we may collect related data, such as your vehicle details or service requests. We only collect personal data necessary for the specific feature or service you use. We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health, religion, or financial details) unless specifically required for a claim, and even then only with your explicit consent. We also use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website (see “Cookies and Tracking” below).
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our insurance claims services. Our primary uses include: Claim Processing and Customer Service: We use your personal and claim data to process insurance claims on your behalf. For example, when you submit photos of vehicle damage, our AI analyzes them to eliminate the need for physical inspections, speeding up the notification and resolution of claims. We forward your claim details to the appropriate insurance companies (our partner insurers) so that your policy can be handled efficiently. We also use your contact information to confirm claim details, send you status updates via the app or email, and respond to your questions. Fraud Prevention and Security: FastClaim employs AI and security tools to verify the authenticity of claims. Our platform uses AI to verify the authenticity of damage reports, reducing the chances of fraudulent claims. We analyze patterns in uploaded images and data to detect tampering or fraud, helping ensure fair outcomes for all users. We also use device and usage data to protect your account and secure the app against abuse. Service Improvement and Analytics: We analyze aggregated, anonymized usage data to improve our platform. This may include measuring app performance, identifying trends in claims data, and testing new features. We may also use your information to customize your experience. Marketing (with Consent): We would only use your contact details to send you marketing or promotional messages if you have explicitly opted in. You can withdraw this consent at any time. Legal Compliance and Protection: We may use or disclose information as needed to comply with legal obligations (such as law enforcement requests) or to protect our rights and safety.
Sharing Your Information
We do not share your personal information indiscriminately. We share data only with trusted third parties as described below, always under confidentiality agreements or legal restrictions: Partner Insurance Companies: To process your claim, we share your claim details with the insurance company that issued your policy and other FastClaim partner insurers. These insurers receive only the information needed to assess your claim. Service Providers: We engage third-party vendors to help deliver our services (for example, cloud hosting providers, analytics services, communication tools, and customer support platforms). Law Enforcement and Legal Obligations: We may disclose personal data if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process. Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale, personal data may be transferred to a successor entity under the same protections. Other Disclosures: We do not sell or rent your personal information to advertisers. We may share aggregate, non-identifiable information publicly or with partners.
Data Security and Retention
Security Measures: We use encryption, access controls, and security monitoring to protect your data. In the event of a data breach, we will notify you and the NDPC promptly, as required by law. Data Retention: We retain your personal data only as long as necessary. Typically, account data is kept for up to three years of inactivity, and contractual/claim data may be retained for up to six years. After this, data is securely deleted or anonymized.
Your NDPA Rights
You have the following rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act: Access & Portability – Obtain a copy of your personal data in a machine-readable format. Rectification – Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. Erasure – Request deletion of personal data when no longer needed or processed unlawfully.
